SCRIPTURE FOR THEMONTH: PROVERBS 16v3
“Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.” (KJV)
THEME “KNOWING THE DIVINE PRINCIPLES FOR SUCCESS, ESTABLISHMENT AND FULFILLMENT”
Dearly Beloved,
Welcome to the month of March. We thank and praise the Lord for His keeping and saving grace.
As we enter the month of March, it is important to take a moment to reflect on our goals, plans, and aspirations. This month offers us a fresh opportunity to align our desires with God’s will.
Proverbs 16:3 gives us a divine principle for success and fulfillment: Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established.”
In a world where self-reliance and human wisdom often take center stage, this verse reminds us that true success and stability come only when we surrender our plans to God. When we entrust our efforts to Him, He takes responsibility for the outcome, ensuring that our thoughts — the desires and intentions of our hearts — are brought to reality in alignment with His will.
EXPOSITION:
The word “commit” in this context means to “roll” or “entrust” entirely. It signifies a complete handover of our efforts, ambitions, and decisions to the Lord, trusting Him to direct and perfect them (Psalm 37:5 KJV: “Commit thy way unto the LORD; trust also in him; and he shall bring it to pass.”)
When we commit our works to the Lord:
- WE ACKNOWLEDGE GOD’S SOVEREIGNTY: We recognize that only God knows the end from the beginning (Isaiah 46:10).
- WE SEEK HIS GUIDANCE: We allow God to order our steps and establish our direction (Proverbs 3:5-6).
- WE TRUST HIS TIMING: God’s plans often unfold differently than ours, but His timing is always perfect (Ecclesiastes 3:11).
The promise in this verse is that our “thoughts shall be established” — meaning our plans, purposes, and desires will be made firm, successful, and fulfilled according to God’s divine blueprint.
BIBLICAL EXAMPLES:
- NEHEMIAH’S COMMITMENT (Nehemiah 1:4-11; 2:4-8)
When Nehemiah heard about the broken walls of Jerusalem, he didn’t rush into action. Instead, he prayed and committed his plans to God. Because of this, God granted him favor before King Artaxerxes and provided everything needed for the task. Nehemiah’s work was established because it was committed to God.
2. DAVID’S DEPENDENCE ON GOD: David’s Dependence on God (1 Samuel 30:6-8.)
After the Amalekites invaded Ziklag and took everything, David didn’t act out of panic. He sought God’s direction first. By committing his next steps to the Lord, God instructed him to pursue and recover all — and David did just that.
3. JESUS’ SURRENDER (Luke 22:42):
In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus committed His greatest work — the work of salvation — to the Father’s will. By saying, “Not my will, but thine, be done,” He showed us the ultimate example of surrender. Through that commitment, humanity’s redemption was established
LESSONS:
1.COMMITMENT BRINGS CLARITY:
When we commit our plans to God, He brings direction and removes confusion (James 1:5).
2. GOD’S ESTABLISHMENT IS SECURE:
What God establishes stands firm, unlike human efforts that often waver (Psalm 127:1).
3. PEACE COMES FROM SURRENDER: When we roll our burdens onto God, we experience peace, knowing He is in control (Philippians 4:6-7).
4. GOD PERFECTS WHAT WE COMMIT: When our plans align with God’s purpose, He brings them to completion (Philippians 1:6).
PRACTICAL APPLICATION:
- Begin each day by committing your activities, decisions, and plans to God through prayer.
- Seek God’s guidance before making major life decisions — in your career, family, ministry, and finances.
- Trust God’s timing and process, even when the results seem delayed.
- Evaluate your plans regularly and ensure they align with God’s Word and purpose.
CONCLUSION:
As we journey through March, let us embrace the wisdom of Proverbs 16:3. By committing our works to the Lord, we position ourselves for divine guidance, success, and fulfillment. Our thoughts and desires become established when they are anchored in God’s purpose. Trust Him with your plans, and He will bring them to pass in due season.
May this month of March be a month of divine establishment and fulfilled purpose for us in Jesus Name. Amen.
Shalom!
