MONTHLY NEWSLETTER With Rev. Dr. C. A. ONITIRI (November 2024 Edition)

Greetings, Beloved in Christ, Amen.

As we enter the month of November, may the peace, grace, and strength of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.

In these challenging times, the call to live a life rooted in faith, truth, and sound doctrine is ever-present. May this month’s reflections and insights encourage and equip us to walk steadfastly in the path of righteousness.

The Apostle Paul’s words to Timothy in 2 Timothy 3:10-17 offer us a powerful reminder to remain faithful and grounded in God’s Word, regardless of the trials and temptations that come our way. Paul’s life exemplifies perseverance in faith, even amid persecution and hardship, while holding fast to the Holy Scriptures as a source of wisdom and guidance. As we meditate on this passage, may we find strength to deepen our walk with Christ and be inspired to embrace God’s truth boldly.

  1. LIVING A GODLY LIFE DESPITE ADVERSITY( vs 10-12)
The Apostle Paul highlights his own experiences of hardship and persecution, encouraging Timothy to stay the course. As Christians, we are not promised a life free from challenges; instead, we are assured that God is with us through every trial (John 16:33).

Paul’s life reminds us that following Jesus often brings opposition. Yet, as we trust in the Lord, He faithfully delivers us and sustains us through every situation. This is a call for us to live out our faith with courage and conviction.

  1. AVOIDING DECEPTION BY ROOTING OURSELVES IN SCRIPTURE (v13)
Paul warns Timothy of “evil people and impostors,” who will deceive and lead many astray. Today, with various doctrines and beliefs around us, we need discernment grounded in Scripture to avoid deception. Jesus Himself prayed for His followers to be sanctified by the truth of God’s Word (John 17:17). As we study the Bible, we are equipped to recognize and reject teachings that do not align with God’s truth.

3. THE POWER OF A GODLY FOUNDATION (vs 14-15):
Apostle Paul commends Timothy for remaining faithful to the teachings he learned from childhood. The faith passed down from Timothy’s grandmother, Lois, and mother, Eunice (2 Timothy 1:5), reminds us of the impact of a strong spiritual foundation. It is a call to nurture our faith and to instill God’s truths in our families, communities, and future generations. By doing so, we create a legacy of faith that withstands time and trials.

4.THE SCRIPTURES AS THE SOURCE OF WISDOM AND INSTRUCTION (vs 16-17):

“All Scripture is inspired by God” and serves to teach, correct, and train us for righteousness. As we engage with the Word, we are equipped to fulfill every good work the Lord has prepared for us. Just as Jesus used Scripture to resist temptation (Matthew 4:1-11), so can we find strength and guidance in God’s Word. This month, let us dedicate time to study the Scriptures, allowing God to mold and prepare us for His divine purposes.

DANIEL IN BABYLON:
Despite living in a culture that opposed his beliefs, Daniel remained steadfast in his devotion to God, even in the face of persecution (Daniel 6:10-23). His commitment to prayer and the Scriptures sustained him through every trial.

STEPHEN, THE FIRST MARTYR:
Stephen’s bold proclamation of the truth led to his martyrdom, but his life serves as an example of unwavering faith and devotion to God’s Word, even when faced with death (Acts 7:54-60).

JESUS CHRIST, OUR ULTIMATE EXAMPLE:
Jesus consistently modeled a life grounded in truth, using Scripture as His defense and guide. In every aspect of His ministry, Jesus upheld the Word of God, providing a perfect example for us to follow (John 8:31-32, Matthew 4:4).

Beloved, as we journey through November, let us stand firm in the truth of God’s Word. May the Scriptures continue to guide, teach, and strengthen us in every area of our lives. As Paul encouraged Timothy, let us continue in what we have learned, staying grounded in faith and being equipped for every good work. This month, commit to drawing closer to God through His Word, finding strength, wisdom, and peace in every line and every promise.

Heavenly Father, we thank You for the gift of a new month and the reminder of the power of Your Word. Grant us the grace to walk in truth and to hold fast to Your teachings, no matter what trials we face.

Strengthen our faith, O Lord, and equip us to be vessels of Your love, wisdom, and truth.

As we meditate on Your Word, may it transform us and prepare us for every good work You have called us to. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen

Shalom!
