Greetings to you all beloved of God and I welcome us all to the 2nd month in the year 2023, the month of February.
SCRIPTURE FOR THE MONTH OF FEBRUARY: JEREMIAH 3V23 (But Read from v21-25).
THEME: “TRUE SALVATION OR DELIVERANCE CAN ONLY BE FOUND IN GOD”
NOTE:
The mountains were centers of idol worship and thus were strongholds of falsehood and deception.True Salvation or deliverance could only be found in God.
In v21 the weeping heard here is characteristic of Baal worship.
In vv22-25 Jeremiah predicted a day when the nation would be reunited, true worship would be reinstated and sin would be seen for what it is.
Today in our world we glorify the thrills, the excitement that comes from wealth, winning and sexual pleasures.and ignore or disregard the sin that is so often associated with these thrills. It is really sad that most of us see sin as it really is—–deception.
Most of us can’t see this until we are destroyed by the sin we pursue.
The advantage of believing God’s Word is that we don’t have to learn by hard experience the destructive results of sin.
If you go through this chapter again and reading from v19 you will observe that it brought pain to the heart of God to watch His people go into spiritual idolatry.Nevertheless, He had a plan that would bring them back and unite them as one people.In other to produce permanent repentance, however, there would be great pain on the part of backsliding Isreal. They had to suffer the pain of captivity.It took captivity for Israel to realise the futility and foolishness of idol gods.( Can you picture our nation here and what we are going through?)
Once they confessed to the foolishness of their idolatry they were ready to be restored to the land of their inheritance.May the Lord open our eyes and hearts to the foolishness we have found ourselves in today so we will be restored to what God had planned for us from the beginning.
