THE PROMISE OF DELIVERANCE SERIES

DAY 15: FRIDAY SEPTEMBER 15. 2023.

TODAY’S INSPIRATION: JOSHUA 1V12-15.

12 ¶ And to the Reubenites, and to the Gadites, and to half the tribe of Manasseh, spake Joshua, saying,

13 Remember the word which Moses the servant of the LORD commanded you, saying, The LORD your God hath given you rest, and hath given you this land.

14 Your wives, your little ones, and your cattle, shall remain in the land which Moses gave you on this side Jordan; but ye shall pass before your brethren armed, all the mighty men of valour, and help them;

15 Until the LORD have given your brethren rest, as he hath given you, and they also have possessed the land which the LORD your God giveth them: then ye shall return unto the land of your possession, and enjoy it, which Moses the LORD’S servant gave you on this side Jordan toward the sunrising.” (KJV)

INSPIRATION NOTE

Joshua 1:12-15 signifies a pivotal moment in the history of God’s people, as it highlights the unwavering faithfulness and mighty deliverance of God. In this passage, God instructs Joshua, the successor of Moses, to prepare the Israelites to cross the Jordan River and enter the land promised to them.

The emphasis on God’s deliverance is evident as Joshua reminds the tribes of Reuben, Gad, and half the tribe of Manasseh to fulfill their commitment to join their fellow Israelites in the battle for the promised land before settling in their own inheritance. This serves as a reminder that God’s deliverance is not an opportunity for selfish gain but a collective effort to ensure the fulfillment of His divine plan.

The significance of this passage lies in the underlying message of unity among God’s people. By urging these tribes to stand alongside their brothers, Joshua emphasizes the importance of solidarity and cooperation in God’s redemptive work. It reveals that God’s deliverance is not limited to individual blessings but encompasses a communal responsibility to support one another in fulfilling God’s purposes.

Furthermore, the inclusion of these specific tribes in the command to cross the Jordan demonstrates God’s faithfulness in keeping His promises. Despite their request to settle outside the promised land, God ensures that they actively participate in the conquest, reinforcing the idea that divine deliverance is a shared experience that unifies all of God’s people.

PRAYER:

Heavenly Father,

We humbly praise You for Your unwavering faithfulness in delivering Your people, as portrayed in Joshua 1:12-15. We seek Your guidance and strength as we trust in Your mighty deliverance in our own lives.

In Jesus mighty name we pray. Amen.
